A wage is a compensation, usually financial, received by workers in exchange for their labor.

Compensation in terms of wages is given to workers and compensation in terms of salary is given to employees. Compensation is a monetary benefit given to employees in return for the services provided by them.

Determinants of wage rates

Depending on the structure and traditions of different economies around the world, wage rates are either the product of market forces (Supply and Demand), as is common in the United States, or wage rates may be influenced by other factors such as tradition, social structure and seniority, as in Japan.

Several countries have enacted a statutory minimum wage rate that sets a price floor for certain kinds of labor.

How do I work out my monthly wages? Is there a wage calculator somewhere?
Q. How do I work out my monthly wages after tax? Is there a wage calculator somewhere. I haven't received my monthly wage yet as I only started a few weeks back but I need to know how much will be paid into my account monthly. I need to work out the exact figure as I'm trying to put a budgeting plan together.

A. If you know your weekly wage, just multiply it by 4.33. That will give you your monthly wage. Here's a calculator that is just what you want.

What will minimum wage be after congress and the president get finished ?

A. No one will be paid a "wage" as such any more. We will all go to the government handout store and get what the government says we deserve. We will work at the jobs the government decides we should do. We will read what the government decides we should read. We will be told what the government decides we ned to know. All of this is coming unless we wake up and replace the career politcians now in Washington, DC.
