Q. I am trying to find places that would be willing to publish more subversive/dry short stories. All the popular magazines seem to be extremely literary and probably not interested in my style. So is there no hope? Are there any offbeat literary magazines out there? My writing has been compared to the love child of David Sedaris and Jerri Blank, if that gives you a better idea. Thanks for any suggestions. Asked by Egg Lawyer - Sun Jul 13 19:42:10 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Subversive, eh? Sedaris, eh? ... There's a ton. What mags have you been looking at? A lot of niche publishing magazines exist. The Idiot, The American Drivel Review just to name two that I know very well. They aren't widely distributed, but people do read them. Believe it or not, looking for short story markets is actually one of the times I think the Writer's Market is really useful. They have a huge listing of Lit Mags. (I prefer Herman's for agents.) The key with niche mags is to read at least ten back issues from the current editor. They have particular tastes that are easy to identify and play to. (In truth this is the secret to all short story markets. You write to the editor, not the audience. But what do I know?) Answered by TheVet - Sun Jul 13 20:07:46 2008 What agency censors magazines and other printing materials? Q. I know the FCC censors tv and film, but are they the same agency that censors magazines, video games and books? Asked by kayakyen - Wed Feb 13 04:25:04 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. No, usually books and magazines are censored by the publishers due to pressure from private groups. There is no government organization that censors any written materials (at least in the US), but private groups try to all the time. Q. I am new to the marketing field and have landed a job about 7 months ago planning, creating and executing the marketing efforts for a small company. Now that I have a firm grasp of the industry and company as to where it has been and where it wants to go, I'd like to subscribe to some magazines/ newspapers, etc that will keep me up-to-date with buying trends, consumer behavior, economic forcasts and marketing ideas. Any suggestions> Asked by Ree - Fri Jan 12 15:00:29 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. It's quite unusual here to recommend some other person, but I'm sure you'll get the most complete answer from this lady: I've read some of her answers and it seems she is very good at giving the right information in this field. Try to email her and you'll be happy. )) Answered by justaskin - Fri Jan 12 15:28:26 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "magazines" |
