What basic services are provided by non-profit organizations?
Q. I'm trying to find out what basic services are provided by non-profit organizations. I know they all have their specific field, but there is a structure of sorts that all non profits will go through. I'm looking for a list of basic (and some not so basic) services they render, as well as a list of information detailing what the organization does through out the year. ie, look for sponsors 20% of the time, give away money or services 30% of the time, etc. Best answer will go to the person who is descriptive, detailed, knowlegable, and meets the requirements of the question. Thank you.

Electrical question...What size should service wires be for 2 one-hundred amp services in a two family house?
Q. I ask that becuase NEC code specifies wire size for services according to amperage for single and multifamily dwellings...but don't specify if you're suppose to add the amperage up if you have more than one service...or the wire size that will accomodate 100 amp service will still be sufficient with another 100 amp service.
Asked by Scarface - Sun Sep 2 23:42:34 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. this depends on whether both 100 amp services will use the same drop line or will have separate drop lines with separate weather heads...if both of them will be gang mounted with one service head then you will have to use 2/0 copper or 4/0 aluminum...if they are` both going to have there own weather head and services then you would only need 1/0 copper or 2/0 aluminum...plus grounds for both services...

What services do you enjoy most from your dogs/cats boarding facility?
Q. I'm a manager at a locally owned pet kennel/grooming shop and was wondering what products/services your kennel offers that makes you feel comfortable with your pet being there. What a la carte services do they offer, prices etc. Thanks!

What services are there that will give you money from settlements in advance?
Q. I am expecting a large settlement in about 3 months time. I have heard of services that are capable of giving you a portion of that money early and when you have recieved your money, you may them back. Does anyone have any idea what some of these services may be?
Asked by helpjettanow - Sat Aug 25 17:38:24 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. What you seem like you have is probably a "Structured Settlement" that you want to turn to cash. Many lawfirms ect do these. Odviously its in their best interest and they make money, but sometimes its worth it to get your money earlier, especially if your settlement is paid over time or an annuity. Here is one place that does it. I dont know them I just Googled Structured Settlements. This should get you started. Do you homework and get at least 3-7 bids on what they will offer you. Make sure you have a financial planner, a tax attorney, an accountant, and an investment attorney look at what you are doing. Spending a couple hundered dollars might save you 1,000s Good luck.

Do social services have the rights to put an elderly person in a home without that persons permission?
Q. My elderly grandma as been in hospital 2 weeks & the doctor agreed to let her home. However the family as been arguing over aftercare arrangements & 1 family involved social services. A. Even if your grandma gave the family member who wants to put her into a home a medical power of attorney, she can revoke that if she is of sound mind. There is a concern about who will provide adequate care for your grandmother when she comes home from the hospital. Depending on her conditions, provisions can be made for home care. Contact your local senior services office to ask what sort of support they can offer. Does someone need to be with your grandmother all the time? If so, can the ones who want to help her stay at home take turns? Social service people in the hospital seem to want to push the elderly into nursing homes right away. It makes you wonder whether the nursing homes are giving them commissions. When the… [cont.]

What are some lawn maintenance/design services that are not offered much, and people would be willing to pay 4?
Q. We are expanding a lawn maintenance business we already have, and are looking to offer more services. We want to know what people are wanting, specifically services not offered much, because we are wanting to make a profit. Clients are willing to pay a little extra if it's something they want/need done and we are the only business who offer the service. Anyway, it does not even have to be lawn related. Any cool or interesting ideas, that would make our business stand out?

A. not knowing how big your company is and what you are already offering - you could do pruning and hedge trimming - you could offer aerating and leave removal - if you have a good mulcher on your equipment offer to mulch the leaves on the grass they will deteriorate and feed the soil and cut down on the fertilizer need to feed the grass - you could clean gutters - offer your customers whatever they want - people like to deal with one company that do a good job than 2 or 3 company's that will only do one thing

A. You should charge an hourly rate. Give an approximate time of how long it will take. The reason is because how long it will take you is really based on how dirty it is to start. Depending on the area most cleaners charge $9.00 - $18.00 an hour.

You are not required to go up to people you don't know if you don't want. It is only a plus. I don't do that, I get my customers through people I know and people my customers know. A. I recommend visiting scrapbooking forums and posting your services on their sites, if the forum rules allow it. Alternatively, do you have a website? There are many hosting companies that can help you create a website even with average computer experience. Alternatively, have you considered attending your community fairs this spring and summer to have a booth? You might contact your local city government and find out if you can teach a class for free on scrapbooking how-to's for the community rec center. Go to senior centers, church groups, and volunteer to teach them. You'll have a chance to introduce yourself and tastefully tell them you offer these services. Don't make it a strong sales job, just get your name out there. -Mark … [cont.]

A. Basically, when you buy music from iTunes, it comes with a copyright protection called DRM. These DRM-protected songs are locked so that they only work with Apple MP3 players. That means that if you bought a Microsoft Zune, you cannot use iTunes music. So, what is the solution? You have to burn a CD. When you do this, the DRM is removed (because the music is converted to a non-DRM-compatible media). After you burn the CD, you can rip it to your PC as an MP3 file which no longer has DRM. Alternatively, you can use TuneClone ( ). TuneClone makes a virtual CD-ROM drive, tricking your PC into believing that you are burning a CD. Therefore, the DRM is removed without wasting a CD. Here is a link to a tutorial using TuneClone and iTunes 8: … [cont.]

How is custody determined when social services takes the kids?
Q. A woman I know of is most likely going to lose her kids due to abuse. Kentucky social services is talking about giving "indefinate" custody to one of the kids' (divorced) grandparents or other relatives like an aunt or uncle. How will they determine who will get the children? Living conditions, location (as in how close to the mother), financial stability, etc? Can an unmarried, heterosexual, financially stable couple ask for custody? How much will small-town politics help someone who doesn't deserve the kids gain custody? If custody is granted to someone and they move in with the mother, will social services re-take the kids? **Anything** you can tell me related to the above would be appreciated, especially if you can provide links.

A. The best interests doctrine will always come into play. Before the custodial rights can be permanently terminated, the courts have to get involved. At that time, the judge, in conjunction with Protective Services, will evaluate the parents -- and determine if, in fact, abuse did occur. . . what type and how severe that abuse was . . . as well as who the perpetrator was. They'll determine which of the parents (if either) are more apropriate to care for the children -- mentally, physically, financially. If the parents live together, or are both abusive (or provide an inhospitable environment -- such as alcholics, drug abusers . . . ) the court can look outside the parents to grandparents, adult siblings, aunts/uncles. . . If nobody… [cont.]
