Phone service!?
Q. What is the best phone service? Cingular, Verizon, or T-mobile???
Asked by froggie_chick17 - Thu Feb 21 19:54:25 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I've been with all three and was not happy with Verizon or T-Mobile. Service for those two was "okay," but customer service was the pits. Cingular (now AT&T) was the best of the three; I switched from them to Nextel due to my job and now that I don't work there anymore, am trying to switch back to AT&T.

Phone Service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!?
Q. Which phone service is the best: like verizon, alltel, at&t, sprint, etc.?
Asked by Katharine H - Wed Sep 24 18:26:27 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I have used Sprint and AT&T in the past. I have used Verizon for over 4 years now and it works the best for me. When I used AT&T and Sprint, I never got a signal at my house. I get excellent signal strength with Verizon. Their customer service is good too.

What does a cell phone service provider require to carry over my service to a new phone?
Q. My current phone is breaking apart so I am buying a new used phone. Verizon will transfer my new number and current service to the new used phone, but what kind of information do they need? I assume that whoever sells me the phone (off of craigslist or ebay most likely) will also need to give me the serial number of that phone. What other information about the phone do I need to make sure the seller has?
Asked by samhandwich22 - Tue Apr 27 00:20:38 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The phone has to be a Verizon-branded phone. Verizon requires the ESN. If it's clean, Verizon will activate it. If it's not clean, it cannot be activated. Before you buy the phone, get the ESN and call it in to Verizon to see if it's clean.

How do I set up cell phone service for someone without them knowing?
Q. My brother is always complaining about his cell phone and service and it expires soon, so as a Christmas gift I want to get him a new phone and service with AT&T. Will they let me purchase a new phone and set up a service without him and then maybe he can come in and activate it after wards? How would this work? Would I still be able to buy the phone at the discounted price?
Asked by D - Man - Fri Nov 6 17:36:09 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You cannot commit him to an AT&T contract. You can buy him an AT&T gift card but I'd be really careful about that since he may want another carrier and gift cards are not usually redeemable for cash.

What cell phone service and phoen would you recommend?
Q. My Sprint 2 year contract is up. I am looking for possibly a new service, and a new phone. I don't use alot of minutes, and I really only used the phone as a phone, and to text message. Although some of the cool functionality of the iPhone would be cool. Does anyone have recommendations? What service is the best? What phones are the best?

A. *228+send from your cell phone will only be helpful if the ph has 2 bars of signal to start. If it does then choose option #2, if it doesn't then there's not really anything else that can be done while you are skiing.

What would be the best cell phone service for me?
Q. Alright, so I have Metro PCS right now and I really hate it because I don't get service at my house and the phones aren't that cool. But my mom doesn't have a history of enough credit so the bigger phone companies want a deposit to use their phones. Is there any service provider that would have cool phones and not want such a big deposit? But I need stuff like picture & text messaging, but I don't need all that many minutes.
Asked by Whitney - Thu Oct 23 19:41:31 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I recommend Sprint. I am not sure if they need a deposit, but I am pretty sure they might require it. They have good phones, plans and good service.

I have home phone service with AT&T and I would like to know to how can I get an extended line for a relative?
Q. I want to get telephone service for my sister because she has school age children and a child away at college. She is a homemaker and her husband is a carpenter Their mortgage is $850.00 a month not including lights, gas, water, sewer, plus other necessities. They already had one of those other phone companies that let them down. Now they have to buy minutes on an old-fashioned cellular phone. Please tell me what I can do to get them a phone extended off my line and phone service right away?

A. The type of service you can get to assist her will really depend upon your/her location. There are some more localized carriers (AT and T is NOT one of them, to my knowledge) in some cities which will offer a package deal, but you would have to research them individually. I know of no such deal which can be offered through AT and T, however.

How do I get internet service via cell phone?
Q. I have one laptop. No phone.Need internet service and am willing to purchase cell phone service for primary purpose of setting up internet service for laptop. How is this done? How much dose it co$t?Whats best inexpensive plan?
Asked by HellWolf - Thu Dec 21 21:33:07 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This is very expensive. Verizon, Cingular and Sprint offer these PC cards. They will cost $50 with a 2-year agreement. If you want to do it without a contract, then it will be $200 for the PC Card. As for the plans, for unlimited data, it is about $80 - $100. I don't think the limited data is worth it, unless you do not plan to use it much. In addition, recently in press release, Cingular is getting UMTS (3.5G technology) set-up by January 2007. You will be able to get 3.5Mbps speed from GTOption's PC Card.

What is the best phone service, and type of phone, that you can get for a decent price?
Q. Please help!! I am looking for a good cell phone deal. I need one that dosen't cost a fortune, and you can get a good plan off of. If anyone knows of a great cell phone, that you can get for a decent price, please give an awnser. I currently am on the Sprint phone service. If you could find one that would work with Sprint, that would be great. But if you know any that has a good deal, and does not run on Sprint service, that is ok also. Thanks!

A. the best thing that i have found out recently is that most places sell refurbished phones. you might want to drop by the sprint store to see if they have any. if not, try radio shack. the only problem is that the phones are used, but have been reconditioned by the factory. you will probably have to buy insurance on the phone, but the phone itself will be tremendously cheaper than buying a new one. ---this is only if looking for a different phone, does not include plan.---

What is the best home phone service, cheapest?
Q. I need to get a home phone set up in my apartment, the main reason is so I can accept collect calls from a family member in jail. I~m having a hard time finding a phone service that is reasonable, or even one at all. I live in South Florida. Any help would be appreciated.
Asked by hidee - Mon Oct 20 12:51:38 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Did you say collect calls? Get a voip set up so you'll save on monthly fees. Onesuite.com only charges $2.95 monthly with free incoming calls. Pick a number that close to the person who's going to call you and if the number is available then its not going to be long distance anymore so no more collect calls.

What is the best plan for home phone & internet service?
Q. I think I heard Clark Howard talking about different phone service plans that are half the cost of Bellsouth or less. I think Vonage, Rocket, and Lingo are a few. My phone bill / internet bill is combined and averages about $95 each month. If you are using a package that has home phone service, long distance calling, and internet for $50 a month or less, please let me know about it.

A. I listen to Clark Howard every day! and so far I'm very lucky with everything he recommends... first I check out what providers are in my area, so I can make a wise decision! I did not bundle any service, because if one don't work out, its easier to fire them! its good to have choices... I had Time-Warner RR or earthlink high-speed Internet..I got earthlink, but TW installed it, so it was cheaper then RR and its the same set-up... as my phone provider I got Packet8...good customer service, they all in California not India! I have it for 15 month now, and never had a problem... for overseas calls...I still use onesuite.com I also use yahoo.com to call Europe! as soon as clearwire came to my area, I sing up with them... What is the best cell phone service for international travel?
Q. We live in the U.S. and have a family plan (three phones on our service). We need about 800 minutes per month (U.S.); but travel internationally several times per year and would like a phone that works internationally. We have friends that we visit overseas and some occasions to work overseas. For example, over Christmas we were lost in Germany trying to find out friend's home. It would have been worth a lot to have been able to call them from our car for a few minutes and get directions...so, the cost of the international roaming isn't the biggest concern. We wouldn't be using it that often; but when we needed it, we would want it to be reliable. We travel worldwide - so a plan with the most coverage (Europe, Asia) would be best. … [cont.]

What determines the kind of cell phone service in an area?
Q. Someone told me that all the cell phone providers share the same towers(?) and that whether you have service or how strong / good the signal is at a particular location depends more on the phone that you have. Can someone explain?
Asked by pamgissa - Thu Oct 19 22:34:20 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. well phone reception will vary by model, usually nokias and motorolas have a reputation for having the best reception, but individual companies need their own liscences to give service in any given area, and sometimes more than one company will put their equipment on the same tower, but when a company uses another companies tower thats usually considered roaming

What is the best phone service that doesn't require giving information?
Q. I want a phone company that has an unlimited phone plan, but doesn't require me to give any of my information. I've looked at Cricket and they seem to be the right choice, but I've heard that their service isn't that great. I want to be able to travel with the phone as well and not have to pay roaming charges.

A. I don't know who would give anyone a phone with a plan without taking information. The only way to get a phone, that I know of, without giving out info is to go the prepaid route.

A. If you're interested in pay-as-you-go, I've been happy with my Tracphone. I can buy minutes online or directly from my phone. Some large companies offer pay-as-you-go as well. My very cheap bf has a monthly plan from T-Mobile, which has good coverage, call quality, and customer service, too. You can check out their plans on their website.

How is the quality of Vonage phone service?
Q. I'm thinking about switching to Vonage for my home phone service? I've read that the quality of the sound isn't all that good. But I've also read that it is on par with regular copper wire phone service? Any personal experience with Vonage you could share would be appreciated. I'd rather hear it from the consumers themselves.

A. We have it and if you are not near the base, say within 20 feet, the sound breaks up as static. I have the highest GHz phone money can buy and I have 5 phones in the house to avoid this proble. Other than that, it is saving me about $300 a month on long distance calls. ( Home Business)
