The State of Maine ( /ˈmeɪn/ (help·info)) is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States, bordering the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast, New Hampshire to the southwest, and the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the northwest and New Brunswick to the northeast. Maine is the northernmost portion of New England and is the easternmost state in the contiguous United States. It is known for its scenery — its jagged, mostly rocky coastline, its low, rolling mountains, and its heavily forested interior — as well as for its seafood cuisine, especially lobsters and clams. The original inhabitants of the territory that is now Maine were Algonquian-speaking peoples. The first European settlement in Maine was in 1604 by a French party. A number of English settlements were established along the coast of Maine in the 1620s, although the rugged climate, deprivations, and Indian attacks wiped out many of them over the years. As Maine entered the 18th century, only a half dozen settlements still survived. American and British forces contended for Maine's territory during the American Revolution and the War of 1812. They are probably Eisenia Foetida, they are composting redworms. They are fairly easy to take care of - just feed them leftovers (no meat scraps, dairy, or animal waste though). Look at plans for building a worm bin, it's basically a plastic tote with a cover that has air holes drilled. You can keep the tote inside and out of the way, maybe set something on it that would normally rest on the floor. It won't smell like old garbage and having it that close will make it convenient to feed it scraps. Cover with water. Cook over low heat for 12 hours, stirring often and breaking up large pieces of meat. When meat is thoroughly cooked, let stand a few minutes, then thicken mixture with dry bread crumbs to taste. In a pie plate, pour filling into pie crust. Top with another layer of crust, cutting vents and brushing with egg wash or butter for browning. Bake at 300 for about a half hour. Makes 6 pies.
