GermanFrom Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Law (from Old English "lagu,") is a system of rules, usually enforced through a set of institutions. Laws can shape or reflect politics, economics and society in numerous ways and serves as a primary social mediator of relations between people. Contract law regulates everything from buying a bus ticket to trading on derivatives markets. Property law defines rights and obligations related to the transfer and title of personal (often referred to as chattel) and real property. Trust law applies to assets held for investment and financial security, while tort law allows claims for compensation if a person's rights or property are harmed. If the harm is criminalised in a statute, criminal law offers means by which the state can prosecute the perpetrator. Constitutional law provides a framework for the creation of law, the protection of human rights and the election of political representatives. Administrative law is used to review the decisions of government agencies, while international law governs affairs between sovereign nation states in activities ranging from trade to environmental regulation or military action. Writing in 350 BCE, the Greek philosopher Aristotle declared, "The rule of law is better than the rule of any individual." Legal systems elaborate rights and responsibilities in a variety of ways. A general distinction can be made between civil law jurisdictions, which codify their laws, and common law systems, where judge made law is not consolidated. In some countries, religion informs the law. Law provides a rich source of scholarly inquiry, into legal history, philosophy, economic analysis or sociology. Law also raises important and complex issues concerning equality, fairness and justice. "In its majestic equality", said the author Anatole France in 1894, "the law forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, beg in the streets and steal loaves of bread." In a typical democracy, the central institutions for interpreting and creating law are the three main branches of government, namely an impartial judiciary, a democratic legislature, and an accountable executive. To implement and enforce the law and provide services to the public, a government's bureaucracy, the military and police are vital. While all these organs of the state are creatures created and bound by law, an independent legal profession and a vibrant civil society inform and support their progress. From Wikipedia under the

Q. Many on this section and, in this country, do not distinguish illegal aliens from legal immigrants, and that's created great amount of mis-understanding and unnecessary hostilities towards legal immigrants and legal aliens. Personally, I found it insulting to lump legal immigrants and legal aliens with illegal aliens/invaders. Unlike illegal aliens who are mostly un-educated and un-skilled, who pop out babies after babies before they even reach legal drinking age, Legal immigrants and legal aliens have to go through un-believable amount of legal processes, document-gethering, testings, waiting, interviewing, and spend lots of money for legal consultation, filing fees, and what so ever. As a matter of fact, it's ignorant people who THINK illegal immigrants are uneducated/unskilled and and "pop out" babies before their time that continue to make this country so looked down on. Our country is already looked as the most contradicting of all and yet we continue to turn our backs on immigrants who help build and run it. Now that YOU'RE all fine a dandy, let's lock everybody else out? Illegal immigrants go to school WITHOUT any finacial help, they do the dirty work your 'pretty little hands' will never even dare to do. You all put them down so harshly when you don't even know them. If anything, its illegals AND legal immigrants who are considered more american then all of you judgemental people. With a new 'sex tape' being released each week (it seems) by random celebrities I'm always so confused as to how it's legal for it to be sold to a production company. If both parties are not consenting how is it legal for the company to sell it? Or is it a case where on party pretends to be upset but they both are consenting to release it? Thanks! Asked by Sarah Sarcasm - Mon Aug 23 09:52:57 2010 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. Making the tape probably falls under state laws, like when a journalist wants to record a phone call secretly or something. Some states require both parties to be aware, and some don't. Once the tape is made, I kinda figure that most "celebrities" just go for the cash since if they don't it can end up on Youtube anyway and legal or not, there's not a lot of recourse unless you can definitively prove who put it there.
