The hyphen ( ‐ ) is a punctuation mark used to join words and to separate syllables of a single word. It should not be confused with dashes ( –, —, ― ), which are longer and have different uses, and with the minus sign ( − ) which is also longer. The use of hyphens is called hyphenation. Q. This is the second time this happened to me, and I had to go to my EDD. I don't know why this happened. I went to my novel today and couldn't open it. I get a message saying can't find user dictionary. Then I tried again and got a message saying can't find hyphenation dictionary. I closed my previous document and saved it. I restarted my Imac and went back. Only it opened and copied what was on the previous document, deleting all of my story. I was able to go to my EDD to get what I saved onto that two weeks ago, but 13 pages are lost. Should I get Iwork and dump Appleworks?
