Hardware is a general term that refers to the physical artifacts of a technology. It may also mean the physical components of a computer system, in the form of computer hardware.

Hardware historically meant the metal parts and fittings that were used to make wooden products stronger, more functional, longer lasting and easier to fabricate or assemble.

Modern hardware stores typically sell equipment such as keys, locks, hinges, latches, corners, handles, wire, chains, plumbing supplies, tools, utensils, cutlery and machine parts, especially when they are made of metal.

In a more colloquial sense, hardware can refer to military equipment, such as tanks, aircraft, ships or munitions. In the case of vehicles, such may instead be referred to as armour.

In slang, the term can also refer to trophies and other physical representations of awards.

What hardware and software can do this job with only one pc and 20-30 wy-fi headsets?
Q. The job is to be able to let 20-30 students access any of 30 voice lessons stored on the pc in one room. The students must be able to choose any lesson at any time regardless of which lesson the other students are listening to. The system must be wireless. Each lesson is approximately 30 minutes and the students will be within 25 meters of the pc and/or transmitting hardware. Non student selection of lesson(s) for an individual headset would be acceptable but student selection from the headset would be preferable.

A. With current wifi standards this is impossible for many reasons. Heres your hurdles. Bandwidth, wifi bandwidth is fast even for audio but for 30 plus students accessing possible 30 different audio streams would take a wired network with gigabit ethernet unless you cheap out on the audio quality of the files your using and without a interface there is no way to make selection. In big scenarios like this companies sometimes install a single copy of a server version of windows and set all of the attached machines to server boot so that each can access the same data and you can save money by buying computers with no optical/disk drives.

Where is the best place to mount kitchen cabinet hardware on a horizontal drawer?
Q. I'm looking to add kitchen cabinet hardware/handles to horizontal drawers and I've seen them placed in various positions. I've seen them most frequently dead center and above center (for lower drawers). I'm guessing dead center is the way to go but I'm curious if anyone else has a different take. Thanks!

A. It depends on the height of the drawers and if the supporting runners are top or bottom if on bottom then in the middle if on top toward the top to relieve pressure on the runner when opening.

What are basic hardware requirements of building a web server with database?
Q. I'm going to create my own website with a database which will store some accounts and files. what hardware requirements do i need to build the webserver? OS? RAM? HardDisk? anything else? highest points for best answers.

A. You haven't provided enough information to properly answer that question. There are a couple things that will greatly influence the server requirements. First it will depend on what technology platform you are going to use, eg. what language, type of database, web server, etc. For example if you are going to run PHP and Mysql then Linux would be a good OS, if you are running ASP.NET and SQL Server then you would want to run Windows. As for RAM, Harddisk and CPU, this will depend on how big your site is, and the volume of traffic you expect it to receive. You also need to consider what kind of reliability you need. If you need you site to be very reliable then you need to start thinking about things like redundant hard drives or even… [cont.]
