A. They do not offer better ranking in their search engine if you use their service. One way that you could start to achieve the results you are looking for is to hire an internet marketing company. Search engines have computers that search the internet going from site to site to put together search results. One way to help your ranking is to have other sites linking to your site (preferably well established sites that the search engines already like) . Q. Hi, All I'm from India and I'm optimizing an indian travel and hotel booking site. On checking statistics of my site I came to the conclusion that my website is on top only on Google.com and Google.co.in and not many pages of my site rank for the keywords its been optimized for (Only domain name get rank for hotels specific keywords). can a .com.au domain name hold more weight than a .com domain name in search engines?
Q. I have seen cases where a .com.au domain is appearing higher in search engine listings than the .com variant. I find that quite extraordinary and wondered if anyone else has noticed that? This happens when you search for a specific domain name by its name. Thanks in advance
Asked by jacobjohnfrance - Fri Dec 26 15:39:26 2008 - Search Engine Optimization - 1 Answers - Comments
A. A lot of this depends on your location when performing a search. If your using Google Australia Sites that end in a .AU extenstion should have a higher priority, unless other sites such as the .com have more links from .au sites. Basically, it all comes down to links! If you have a .au site with "0" links and a .com with "100" links from .AU sites the .com should rank higher! Let me know if you need more clarification!

A. Hi, I haven't had much experience w/ .ph, I go for .com/org. Try these out: 1. Get back links for related content, in your case try to get them from websites in the Philippines 2. Add country specific information, addresses and establishments in the Philippines 3. Participate in .ph forums, you can get a lot of links here, also links that bring traffic Good luck!

A. Hi, You do not have to buy your domain registration from Go Daddy to use the extra space. Some domain registration resellers and registrars allow you to redirect your new domain to any folder in an existing domain, wherever it is hosted. One service that I use that does this is They are not the cheapest around, but they are very, very flexible. Read what you can do for free with the domain names you buy through them. However, by doing it this way, by pointing to a folder, you still will have only one control panel for your webhosting space. Another solution is to find an inexpensive "reseller" account. With that you get a space for your domain and can also create a large number of other domains with their own control panels… [cont.]

Search selected websites for specific programs to download?
Q. Does anyone know of a program or an easy way to perform a search of just a few chosen sites? I often come across a program I'm interested in and I like to see if that program is available for download via other sites and what reviews/opinions are available on other sites I frequent. It would save a lot of time to be able to search 4 or 5 sites at once rather than having to visit each site and use its search tool. I had a look at Google's Custom Search Engine and it appears I would have to have a website in order to use it. That's not what I'm after. I had a look at Google's 'Advanced Search' and it has an option to 'Search within a site or domain', however it only gives results for one domain. I tried using a semi-colon between domain… [cont.]

A. In the google toolbar or in the main google search box, after your search query, enter site: OR site: and so on. Example: "artificial intelligence" site:www.youtube.com OR site:www.programmersheaven.com The OR keyword has to be capitals. It somehow feels wrong to be explaining how to search using Google on a Yahoo site.

How to copyright a program with public domain pictures?
Q. I'm developing specific DVD programs with public domain pictures I find on the internet. I am required to copyright the programs before I sell them. I was told that in order to copyright a specific program, i would need to prove the picture I got off the internet was in public domain by researching it three times through various search engines and documenting my searches to the library of congress copyright office. How do i do the research to prove the pictures are legitimate and in public domain? I've been finding most of the pictures on Wikki commons and found the Public Domain Logo.

A. Nothing complicated to get public domain. Anything in the public domain can be used by anybody. All you do is give a mention to what domain you got the pic from. Example... When I do magazines, I would put something like "Courtesy of XXX) XXX=stands for the person or domain's name. That's it Find that same pic again in another public domain site and take note. Once you have 3 sites. You are set. That is what is meant when yhey ask you for 3 differenct sites. That way. No one can argue. :)

Details on how to list websites with searching engines?
Q. I'm basically freelancing and need to design a simple website for a church. I know these people and want to do them a favor. It will be a .com domain name (not secured as of yet...still making a proposal on the site design itself). However...once the site is up and running, how does it get 'listed' in search engines like Yahoo, Google, etc.? I know about a good bit of the web design aspect - but not about how the advertising works with the search engine. Is it *really* just as simple as putting specific keywords into the "META" tags hidden in the main page coding? Or does it require some type of enrollment through the search engines for people searching those keywords? If you could explain in detail how the META tags work and how… [cont.]
Asked by Anonymouse - Wed Jul 16 21:40:13 2008 - Other - Internet - 1 Answers - 1 Comments
A. No- it is not all 'that simple'. Tags and descriptions are a necessity on each page, not just the home page. Try to make them specific to each page. But to make the site SEO- there is much more that needs to be done within the site. Remember that content of the site is very important along with 'links' in the site. These are things that will get you started. Manual submission to the 'engines' can be done also. The criteria on which the 'engines' search sites is an ongoing changing thing. To explain in detail would mean that I would have to write a book - and honestly, I am not that knowledgeable about it all either - but am still learning as I work with some of the best.

SEO - Search Engine Optimization Question - Domain Names?
Q. This is a follow-up question to my previous question which I have listed below: e.g. let's pretend I have a site called www.bestdoors.com and I would also like to access through the following urls french-door.net and internaldoor.com Here is my question: What about having different domain names as domain alias? What is better for SEO, redirect of domain alias? In case we redirect the domains to a specific page in the site and change the page title and metatags to suit the url (in this case internal doors or french door), will this be better SEO wise than domain alias? Hope that makes sense. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

A. It seems that the 301 redirect method is the least likely to cause duplicate content issues with the search engines. Meta redirects and domain parking can cause big issues with search engine rankings.

Will merging my websites via a Redirect ruin my search engine positioning?
Q. I own two websites (A & B). A is the more comprehensive website which covers virtually all of the information that B covers. However, B, being a bit more specific, has the number 1 position for my preferred search terms. How do I safely point domain B to a page on domain A without ruining B's search positioning? a 301 redirect? Can someone explain how to do this with Cpanel? Also, do I redirect EVERY page in B to a corresponding page in A?

A. there are 2 ways you can go. each has its pros and cons. One way would be to add a "header" to site A and stop site B completely. pros - very easy to do cons - the search engine expects to find all the pages on the new site. if you had 11.htm, the search engine expects to find it again. if you do not have the same pages then the search engine will encounter many 404 pages. The second way is to change site B to always redirect to site A. pros - very easy; the search engine robot will not encounter 404 errors. cons - all the pages that were indexed by search engine bots would disappear. the redirect is to web site A home page. hope this helps

A. Google Adwords is like an advertising auction. you are highly unlikely to be seen with 0.01 as your bid. There are many other businesses competing to advertise. Google would rather take 0.99 for a click rather than 0.01. The lower your bid, the less likely you are to appear on results. Google has a tutorial on where to put meta tags, specifically your verification code. It's just another html tag you put at the top of your html coding in the section. Google considers your site valuable if legit sites link to you. Your site doesn't seem legit and noone links to you, but that's just my opinioni. What's your domain? Giving us the info would help ... is a domain is a webpage or similar is lousy is also lousy Free websites ... you won't make… [cont.]

How do i get search engine to pick up a website?
Q. I am doing a website design for a client of mine. We've purchased a number of domain names -- very specific -- i.e. branfordpizza.com, branfordrestaurant.com, etc... If someone goes to google or yahoo search engine and types in Branford Pizza or Branford Restaurant, how do I get my client's website come up at the top of the list?

A. If you advertise and leave behind a website link, the website would be picked up by search engines especially by google. This is based on professional webmasters advice and I have personally seen it worked. Search engine loves regularly updated websites such as American Classifieds TV, Biggest Classifieds, Largest Classifieds, Free Classifieds Directory, Free Community Classifieds.
