Who writes bills on energy dependence or Independence Congress or the White House?
Q. When is the last time Congress passed an energy independence bill? Do environmentalists have anything to do with Congress? What do you think has the single biggest impact on the economy today, 6/6/08? If the Enegry Lobby wrote the bills do you think they would want them to include domestic drilling?
Asked by Pied Hussein Piper - Fri Jun 6 18:11:32 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Most energy bills today are written by the energy lobby.

Will the current oil crisis spark a leap ahead in alternative to oil dependence?
Q. It seems that historically dislocations in economic culture spark either collapse and decline or expansion and renewal. I see, from a historical perspective, that we are at such a crossroad. Will this be the beginning of the end for petroleum? Will this be the beginning of decline for the US?
Asked by Diogene's Dog - Sat Jun 28 20:02:08 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The ball is in the US's court. We could react to this crisis by leaping ahead and jumping into alternative fuels full force. That would be what we would do if we were lead by wise leaders. Unfortunately the US is driven by corporate greed. The reactions of someone driven by greed are predictable. They act only to fill their pockets with money at the expense of others. An example of this are the actions of oil speculators and futures speculators. Both of who drove the prices of oil and food to an all time high. The reason they did this was to make money for themselves despite the economic hardship of others. Considering this, I would say that the US is a sinking ship. We are being driven off a cliff by greedy corporate types who will not… [cont.]

Do you agree that we should decrease our dependence on oil and coal?
Q. Regardless of your stance on global warming, are we going to let europe and asia take the lead on renewable, clean, and nuclear energy technology because we didn't believe in global warming? Don't we all have the same goals here?
Asked by PD - Fri Oct 5 17:24:07 2007 - - 17 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yes, I m all for moving away from fossil fuels towards renewables. I actually have solar panels on my roof to heat my hot water. (Not that this summer was much good for it, we never hit the 85 C cut-off once all year and only topped the 65 C (that the gas boiler is set to) about twice. Where s bloody global warming when you need it?) And remember, I m a GW sceptic, so I m a *very* good boy! :) However, what I don t agree with is attempting to scare people into doing it with all this nonsense about catastrophic global warming. Personally, I think that we ll come up with new technology over the next century that will end our use of fossil fuels naturally. Remember, nuclear power was unknown a century ago who knows what we ll be using… [cont.]
