Nouncustomers
AnagramsCategory: English pluralsFrom Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A customer, also called client, buyer, or purchaser, is usually used to refer to a current or potential buyer or user of the products of an individual or organization, called the supplier, seller, or vendor. This is typically through purchasing or renting goods or services. However, in certain contexts, the term customer also includes by extension any entity that uses or experiences the services of another. A customer may also be a viewer of the product or service that is being sold despite deciding not to buy them. The word derives from "custom," meaning "habit"; a customer was someone who frequented a particular shop, who made it a habit to purchase goods of the sort the shop sold there rather than elsewhere, and with whom the shopkeeper had to maintain a relationship to keep his or her "custom," meaning expected purchases in the future. The slogans "the customer is king" or "the customer is god" or "the customer is always right" indicate the importance of customers to businesses - although the last expression is sometimes used ironically. However, "customer" also has a more generalised meaning as in customer service and a less commercialised meaning in not-for-profit areas. To avoid unwanted implications in some areas such as government services, community services, and education, the term "customer" is sometimes substituted by words such as "constituent" or "stakeholder". This is done to address concerns that the word "customer" implies a narrowly commercial relationship involving the purchase of products and services. However, some managers in this environment, in which the emphasis is on being helpful to the people one is dealing with rather than on commercial sales, comfortably use the word "customer" to both internal and external customers. I work as a customer service rep for QVC and I get a lot of miserable customers who are just plain rude, demanding, and degrading. How do I handle those types? Asked by Cristal - Mon May 26 22:57:02 2008 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments A. Keep smiling, and take deep breaths. Politely but firmly point out that abusing you is not going to get them what they want. Hopefully your company has a policy of protecting you from rudeness, allowing you to terminate a call if you are being abused or sworn at. If so, take a deep breath, and in a pleasant voice say, "It is not acceptable for you to talk to me this way. If you continue I will be hanging up." and then do it. If you are not allowed to do this, let your supervisor know that you will be forwarding all abusive calls to them. When customers get abusive say "I am not here to be abused. I am putting you through to my supervisor." They will soon allow you to hang up on the really abusive ones. I have credit card processing for my business. But soon, I discovered that some customers make dishonest claims through fraudulent chargebacks. I am losing money with these type of customers. What should I do? Asked by Joyce - Fri Aug 24 00:38:45 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. A chargeback does not end the debt they owe you. Its simply the credit card company saying , we are out of this dispute. You can send them a bill, or file in small claims court. You would need to prove they recieved what you charged for. If you can show the chargeback was fraudulent you can possibly get them charged criminally for it. Many business state , if you make a chargeback , we wont do business with you again. Answered by mark - Fri Aug 24 00:53:38 2007 How do I go about getting customers for my commercial janitorial/cleaning company?
Q. I have recently decided to start a janitorial service that focuses on commercial properties. While I have successfully owned and operated a business before, I did quite a bit of research and think that I could do very well in this business. I have read many different things online about how to go about obtaining customers for this business, but I wanted to ask from anyones personal experience. Tell me what method you found to be most successful in getting customers for this kind of business. Thank you. Asked by williamjohnwelch - Mon Sep 21 15:21:30 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. I clean small offices and have found that direct contact is the best. A lot of times it's simply cold calling on businesses to find out who is in charge of cleaning so you can set up an appointment or chance to do a free estimate. It helps to get to know property managers. I also look for recent completed or almost completed commercial buildings. Then I take a box of donuts to the job site, find the construction manager, give him the donuts and find out who to contact. Those are few ideas. I have lots more tips on my Squidoo lens-the link is in My Profile. Good Luck to you!
