Q. I own two websites (A & B). A is the more comprehensive website which covers virtually all of the information that B covers. However, B, being a bit more specific, has the number 1 position for my preferred search terms. How do I safely point domain B to a page on domain A without ruining B's search positioning? a 301 redirect? Can someone explain how to do this with Cpanel? Also, do I redirect EVERY page in B to a corresponding page in A? Asked by GatorPhan - Thu Jul 12 01:34:52 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. there are 2 ways you can go. each has its pros and cons. One way would be to add a "header" to site A and stop site B completely. pros - very easy to do cons - the search engine expects to find all the pages on the new site. if you had 11.htm, the search engine expects to find it again. if you do not have the same pages then the search engine will encounter many 404 pages. The second way is to change site B to always redirect to site A. pros - very easy; the search engine robot will not encounter 404 errors. cons - all the pages that were indexed by search engine bots would disappear. the redirect is to web site A home page. hope this helps Answered by Lukene - Thu Jul 12 06:27:22 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "domain specific search engines" |
