From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Cash refers to money in the physical form of currency, such as banknotes and coins. The word has various claims for sources. Some claim that the word comes from the modern French word caisse, which means "money box", coming from Provençal word caissa, from the Italian cassa, from the Latin capsa which means "box". In the 18th century, the word passed to refer to the money instead of the actual box containing it. Used as a verb it means "to convert to cash"; for example in the expression "to cash a check". Another claim is that it was derived from Tamil word kasu - காசு meaning a coin by East India Company. In bookkeeping and finance, "cash" refers to current assets comprising currency or currency equivalents that can be accessed immediately or near-immediately (as in the case of money market accounts). Cash is seen either as a reserve for payments, in case of a structural or incidental negative cash flow or as a way to avoid a downturn on financial markets. From Wikipedia under the

Q. I recently began dating someone who sends me 2 thousand dollars in cash each week to help pay for bills and expenses. I would like to put this money into my savings account, but am unsure if this is legal. Is this legal, or is there a better option i'm not considering? I would not like to have large amounts of cash sitting around, and would prefer it to be in the bank. If I put it into the bank, will I be taxed on this? And if so, after how much money deposited will I be taxed? Asked by Benjy0620 - Mon Dec 8 17:38:59 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. $2,000 a week, in cash? The bank might start asking questions as this raises money laundering questions. Q. What is the difference between the cash basis of accounting and the accrual basisof accounting? Which one (cash basis or accrual basis) would you select for a company that has inventory? Why? Does the size of the company make a difference in which basis cash or accrual is used? Explain how it makes a difference. What would be the advantages and disadvantages of using one basis of accounting over the other? Asked by Gee - Thu Apr 8 14:06:15 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. In the cash basis actual receipt or payment of cash ( cash includes cheque) is accounted. Under the accrual method irrespective of the movement of cash, ( receipt / payment ) the Transaction is accounted on the due date. For example If Rent is not paid on the last day of the month, it is accounted by debiting Rent a/c crediting Accounts payable. As the inventory is already received and payment is not made, it is appropriate to follow the accrual method. The accrual method is good for the company having inventory. Yes For a bigger company it is advisable to follow the accrual system, otherwise it is very difficult to assess the actual financial position of the Company.
