Why did the pentagon pick Airbus over Boing to assist Northrup Grummund in building the new ?
Q. Boing has a long history of aviation excellence compared with the short history of Airbus. By picking Airbus, the pentagon essentialy just transfered 40,000 potential American jobs to Europe. With our economy in reccession, this doesn't make sense to me.

Stifel, Nicolaus & Co. analyst Troy Lahr said in a research note it was surprising the Northrop-EADS team won given the estimated $35 million per-plane savings offered by Boeing. Lahr estimated the Boeing aircraft would have cost $125 million apiece. "It appears the (Air Force) chose capabilities over cost," Lahr said. (www.cbsnews.com) It looks like they were chosen because the plane has more room, can hold more passengers, and more fuel. I know it sucks that Boeing didn't get and this will be a blow to American jobs, but there are other things to consider. Which plane is the best for what they want to use it for?
