A New Holland Honeyeater (Phylidonyris novaehollandiae), a honeyeater species native to southern Australia, sitting on a flowering stalk of Phormium tenax with its crown dusted by pollen. It was the first bird in Australia to be scientifically described. It is around 18 cm (7.1 in) long, is mainly black, with a white iris, white facial tufts, and yellow margins on its wing and tail feathers.
